Established in 2018, the Summer Band Academy was developed for middle through high school musicians. This exciting summer program is designed for band students with at least one year of playing experience, or by recommendation from your director, who want to further their skills in band, small ensembles, and/or jazz band. The primary focus of this academy is to challenge the middle school and young high school student to perform at a higher level not only through participation in large ensembles, but also through student-directed and director-coached sectionals, mini-lessons, and small ensembles.
The Summer Band Academy is intended to be an intensive two-week program. While students have the option to sign up for one week, it is highly recommended that students register for both weeks in order to get the most out of the experience. The program runs from 9-12, Monday through Friday, ending with a performance for families and friends on the Friday of each week. Opportunities for students include; Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Mini Lessons, Chamber Ensembles, Sectionals, Basic Music Theory/Fundamentals, Jazz Improvisation, Regional Festival Solo/Scale Work.
